Bruce House – Looking for volunteers

Bruce House is the only organization in Ottawa with the core mission of providing housing and compassionate support to people living with and impacted by HIV. Bruce House is a small organization with a big heart and a rich history. We have continued to serve our clients throughout COVID, significantly increasing direct supports.  We are now looking to the short-term and long-term future by engaging in capacity-building and strategic planning.

We are currently seeking committed individuals who would be interested in joining our Board of Directors.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Understand and demonstrate a commitment to the organization’s mission and programs.
  • Regularly attends board meetings and Ad hoc meetings.
  • Contribute skills and knowledge by actively participating in meetings.
  • Stays informed about committee matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.
  • Is an active participant in the committee’s annual evaluation and planning efforts.
  • Keep up to date with issues and trends that affect the organization.
  • Participate in fundraising activities and community events.
  • Helps identify individual and corporate donors.

Ideal candidates would have the following qualifications/skills:

  • Previous board experience preferably in the public health or social services sectors.
  • Expertise in some combination of: strategic planning, financial management and planning, fund development, communications, legal services, social and health services.
  • Experience working with and/or understanding of vulnerable populations.

2022-2023 Registration

The deadline has passed for returning curlers to register, and we can now welcome new curlers to join the Rainbow Rockers Curling League.
Many have registered for the upcoming fall season, but if you have not yet registered on the WEB-SITE, please do so immediately
(NOTE: Giving your $50 deposit is NOT a registration – you must fill out the registration form on the website in addition to your $50 deposit).

We will be filling teams with new curlers based on the order we receive registrations. Avoid disappointment by registering now.

Rainbow Rockers Curling & Banquets – details

At each of the 2 banquet seatings, dinner will be quarter chicken/wedge fries/coleslaw/rolls/dessert. Vegetarian option available upon request when signing up.

In addition we will have several extra 50/50 prizes … maple syrup, Stroked Ego, Shoppers Drug Mart and LCBO gifts.

We will announce division standings (everyone gets a CASH prize!), draw for the hog-pot, and you may give your $50 deposit for the 20th Rainbow Rockers Season to our treasurer.  Please fill out the on-line 2022-2023 registration form on the website prior to the

The 5:30pm banquet is fully subscribed but we still have room for curling (doubles curling!) at 5pm followed by the 7:30pm banquet. If you haven’t yet signed up, please email [email protected] by Monday to reserve your spot at the curling/banquet.

End-of-Season Announcements


End of Season Curling & Banquet – Sunday, April 24, 2022

This season’s closing banquet will be held on Sunday, April 24th. In addition to the banquet there will be a few regular season games and some 6-end recreational curling for those not already scheduled to play. Players can signup as individuals and be placed on a team. This is a great way to meet new people and play other members you may not have had a chance to curl against during the regular season.

Following each banquet, champions will be crowned in each of the divisions and ALL teams take home cash! Bonus prizes will be added to the 50/50 draws!

Fun Curling: 3pm & 5pm
Banquet Times: 5:30pm & 7:30pm
Cost: $20 ($30 Spares/Guests) – PLEASE BRING CASH IF POSSIBLE (alternatively e-transfer to [email protected])

We will have signup sheets at the club this Sunday only. There is limited availability so please signup on Sunday. If you do not curl this Sunday, please email “[email protected]” to specify your curling/banquet time preference (or banquet only), and send an e-transfer to “[email protected]”.

 

Registration for the 2022-2023 Season – OUR 20th SEASON !
The registration form is on-line and you may register right now at: https://rainbowrockers.org/online-registration/
Full-time members will have the opportunity to pay their $50 deposit for the 2022-2023 season at the closing banquet (registration and deposit is required by May 15, 2022 to confirm your space).
Members can register as a team or as individuals. If you do not have a full team but wish to curl with one or two other people, then please specify this on your registration.

After May 15, registration for next season will be open to spares and new members. Registration forms for new full-time members will accepted before this date, but will be considered tentative and subject to space availability.

 

Spares Fees
All spares fees will be collected after the final games. Spares will be notified how much they are to e-transfer to the [email protected].
