Strategy Clinic – Sunday January 12th @ 11am

We are organizing a Curling Strategy 101 clinic on Sunday January 12th, 2025 from 11:00 am to noon at the Ottawa Curling Club. The session will be geared to new curlers and those who would like a refresher on curling strategy. Your instructor will be Darren McEwen who is a 2-time Canadian Pride Curling champion and Rainbow Rockers Curling League member. Darren has previously led the OCC’s Getting Started League and is a certified coach.
The cost for this event is $10.00. Please register with an email to [email protected] . Please pay Bill Joyce when you see him at the club or send an e-transfer to [email protected].

Euchre & Rummoli Games night – Saturday JANUARY 11th (NOTE: just a week away)

Our annual Euchre and Rummoli night will be held on Saturday, January 11th @ 8:30pm. Rummoli and Euchre prizes will be awarded to the top winners, lone hands, and losers!
The cost for the evening of games is $10. Sign-up sheets will be available at the OCC in January. Alternatively you can register by email to [email protected] and e-transfer $10 to [email protected].

Dear Curlers,

Alas, the CPCC 2025 Committee is here to provide you with an update regarding the Canadian Pride Curling Championships and Spring Fling Bonspiel, set to take place in Edmonton from April 3rd to 6th, 2025.

Spring Fling Bonspiel:

In addition to the Championships, we’re excited to announce the 32-team Spring Fling Bonspiel.

  • Registration: Opens on January 31st, 2025. More details will follow, including the time the link for registration will go live. Keep an eye out for further communications regarding registration and event specifics.

Host Hotel Information: 

  • Hotel: The Metterra on Whyte Avenue (10454 Whyte Ave) has blocked rooms for CPCC from Wednesday April 2nd to Monday April 7th and to get this rate, you must book before March 1st. The Metterra is a 10 minute walk from the Granite Curling Club.

Flight Discounts:

Both codes are good for travel between March 27th and April 13th with Air Canada and WestJet.

Team Participation:

We are now calling for expressions of interest for team participation, if you haven’t already done so. Please note the following:

Order of Merit for Team Allocation:

  • 2 Teams: Edmonton (Host), Toronto, Saskatoon, Calgary, Halifax
  • 1 Team: Ottawa, Vancouver, Winnipeg, St. John’s, Montréal, Regina
  • Deadline: To express your interest, please email us at [email protected] by January 17th, 2025. 


Note: If we don’t receive your interest by January 17th, 2025, we’ll assume your city isn’t participating and move to the next city in the order of merit.

Dates and Times:

  • Curling will start the morning of Thursday, April 3rd – schedule TBD. 
  • Draws will continue throughout the weekend and likely a few draws on the Sunday, to ensure there is ample time between draws for activities and to maintain favourable ice conditions. Plan accordingly! 

We encourage everyone to arrive by no later than Wednesday – we will be setting up slots for practice ice and will be hosting the Fling Into Spring Mixer for all CPCC and Bonspiel participants. 

Fees:

Fees for both the Canadian Pride Curling Championships and the Spring Fling Bonspiel will be $575/team and an additional $75 for a fifth member.

Look out for follow-up emails with more information and updates on the Championships and the Bonspiel.

We encourage you to make your travel and accommodation plans early to secure the best rates and availability. Remember, your participation not only highlights the spirit of curling but also supports the growth and celebration of diversity within our sport.
